Vaccinations 2024

Influenza

You can get your flu vaccination at Unichem Manly. This is a really important year to consider getting a flu vaccination as it seems that the Northern Hemisphere were hit hard and we might be too. Although having the flu jab doesn’t guarantee you won’t catch the flu, it will give you more protection and reduce the severity of the symptoms if you do catch it.

You can now book at https://bookmyvaccine.health.nz/ so that you and your whanau are best protected this season. Walk ins available but bookings advised. Allow for vaccine time, plus a five minute wait afterwards.

Influenza Vaccines are FREE to people meeting the following criteria:

  • Pregnant women (any trimester)

  • People aged 65 years and older

  • People aged under 65 years with any of the medical conditions listed below:

  • Chronic heart problems, excluding high cholesterol or high blood pressure, if they haven’t caused problems with other organs

  • Cerebrovascular disease

  • Chronic breathing or lung problems, including asthma where regular preventative medicine has been prescribed

  • Diabetes

  • Chronic kidney disease

  • Cancer that’s not in remission, excluding skin cancers if not invasive

  • Other conditions such as autoimmune disease, immune suppression, immune deficiency, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), transplant recipients, neuromuscular and central nervous system diseases, cochlear implant, error of metabolism at risk of major metabolic decompensation, pre- or post-splenectomy, Down syndrome, haemoglobinopathies and children on long term aspirin

COVID-19

A new Covid 19 vaccine will be available early March.  Click on the following link for further information.  https://pharmac.govt.nz/news-and-resources/news/media-release-covid-19-vaccine-available-in-march

Having COVID-19 does not provide the same level of immunity as getting vaccinated. We also know that your protection from the primary course of the vaccine decreases over time. To keep your immunity levels high, stay up to date with your vaccinations — including boosters. This will lower your chances of getting very sick from COVID-19 and ending up in hospital. Boosters provide an extra layer of protection to previous vaccination and help your immunity be stronger and last longer.

BOOKING YOUR VACCINATION AT UNICHEM MANLY

You can book your vaccination appointment on www.bookmyvaccine.nz for both flu and COVID vaccinations. You can even have them done at the same time if you wish! The site will be ready to take bookings on 1st April 2024.

Can I get my COVID-19 vaccination at the same time as the flu jab?

You can have a COVID-19 vaccine or booster at the same time as your free flu vaccine. There’s no need to leave a gap between these vaccines.

Being up-to-date with all your vaccinations gives your the best possible protection.

Who will vaccinate me?

We have four vaccinators this year that will be helping you - Tracy, Thilina, Susan and Tania.
