To help reduce the spread of contagious conditions within households, pharmacists can also provide assessment and treatment options
Advice on detection, treatment selection, application techniques, environmental management, and prevention of reinfestation. Treatment may include dimethacone lotion and a head lice comb. Treatment may be provided for all family members.
Assessment and treatment of uncomplicated scabies, including advice for household contacts and measures to prevent recurrence. Treatment may include a lotion for the treatment of scabies. This may be prescribed to all family members.
Women under 25 years of age can access the Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP, often known as "Plan B") free of charge. Our pharmacists will provide a confidential consultation to determine eligibility, discuss treatment options, and offer sexual health advice where appropriate.
Women aged 16–65 years can access pharmacist assessment and treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections. Our pharmacists will assess symptoms, determine suitability for treatment under the service criteria, supply appropriate medication where indicated, and refer patients with more complex presentations for medical review.
Our pharmacists can assess and provide treatment or management advice for several common childhood conditions.
Assessment and treatment recommendations for children experiencing pain or fever associated with minor illnesses or infections. This may include advice on appropriate use of paracetamol or ibuprofen, dosing guidance, and monitoring for symptoms that require referral. Treatment provided may include paracetamol and/or ibuprofen liquid. A syringe for dosing will also be subsidised. The consultation may be with the caregiver.
Assessment and management of mild dehydration resulting from illnesses such as gastroenteritis.Our pharmacists can provide oral rehydration products, hydration advice, and guidance on recognising signs that require further medical attention. Treatment may include oral rehydration solution or sachets. The consultation may be with the caregiver.
Our pharmacists can assess uncomplicated conjunctivitis and provide appropriate treatment and self-care advice where suitable, while identifying cases that require referral to a doctor or specialist. Treatment may include antibiotic eye drops or ointment. This service is available for 2 years older and up. However our specially qualified pharmacists can offer treatment to under 2 year olds. Note that a child under 2 must be present for this consultation for clinical evaluation.

No consultation fee applies.
No prescription charge applies for the Emergency Contraceptive Pill supplied through this service.
Prescription Charges
Prescription charges are separate from consultation fees unless otherwise specified.
However:
Children under 14 years generally do not pay prescription charges.
People aged 14–65 years who hold a Community Services Card generally do not pay prescription charges.
There is no prescription charge for medicines supplied under the Emergency Contraception service.
